[  ] Workshop Description

TouchDesigner is a node based visual programming language for real time interactive multimedia content, developed by the Toronto-based company Derivative. It's been used by artists, programmers, creative coders, software designers, and performers to create performances, installations, and fixed media works. This cluster will cover the introduction & basic features of TouchDesigner to make various interactive projects. The participants will work with input sound & video to visualize it with real-time effects in 2D and 3D. The output through this process would be a set of algorithmic art and coding art outputs expressed in an interactive visualization format and can be learnt by any designer, coder, musician, or anyone with a creative bent.

The workshop is suitable for any designer or creative individual wanting to explore a new way of visualizing through audio -video to create interactive animations and visualizations. The software is a visual node-based programming tool and is easy to grasp for anyone without any prior experience in programming.

[  ] Tutor Details

Eduard Krasilnikov is design technologist with an expertise in creative coding and media art. He studied Computer Science at Kazan University, Russia and has always had a great interest in drawing and visualizations. Using programming to create art became a hobby that turned into a profession for Eduard. He explores the unlimited potential of real-time generative & interactive art as a creative coder. His works have been displayed at prominent exhibitions in New York and Tokyo. He has developed a unique style of creative audio-reactive visualizations through tools like Touch Designer which he constantly uses to create novel visualizations & animation effects for workshops, exhibitions and web displays.

[  ] List of FAQ / Workshop Requisites

Q1 Software requirements:
A1 Please sign up and download TouchDesigner at https://derivative.ca/download. Free non-commercial version is enough for the tutorial. Install TouchDesigner and sign in with your account to activate a non-commercial version on your machine.

Q2 Hardware requirements:
A2 Headphones and a mic. A mouse with a scroll middle button is recommended. A discrete graphics card is recommended but not mandatory. It is for your convenience.

Software download links, Zoom meeting links & other relevant workshop instructions would be sent 3 days prior to start of workshop via e-mail to your registered e-mail ID.

YES. 6-months access would be provided to all workshop participants for practice.

  • Recorded version is made available after the workshop, as per Cluster Tutor(s)'s discretion. (Free for participants; ticketed for non-participants)

  • Check Explara Ticketing platform for availability. [Recording Ticket Purchase activates after end of workshop only - for anyone who has not registered to attend LIVE]

  • Recording is for personal academic use only & comes with copyrights to control re-distribution & transmission (to be signed by buyer).

  • Participation certificate would be issued to workshop participants. Participation Certificates would NOT be provided to buyers of recorded version after the end of the workshop.
